Through the years my birthday has become less about the gifts I recieve and more about who I spend it with. Oh, when I was younger I was showered with luxury gifts - from thomas sabo watches to Hugo Boss wallets. I certainly loved those gifts, but nowadays I really do appreciate the simpler things like human company!
Although last year I must admit my birthday gift from my son was extremely special to me. My brother had passed away of heart failure about 8 months earlier and I was devestated over it. My son had never been big on choosing thoughtful gifts for people in the past but this year was diffrent. I had taken him to a precious stone and gemstone fair where he learned about the healing effects of crystals. So on my birthday he presented me with a crystal necklace. When I opened the box he said to me "Mother I hope this crystal will mend your broken heart over uncle Mikes heart failure. I will never let my heart fail you!" It was so endearing. It brings tears to my eyes this very day.Sentimental gifts are always the best. I will never forget the thought behind that birthday gift from my good hearted son. |
