If you love libraries or just love to read, the Project Gutenberg website is the place for you. More than 33,000 books (at last count) of every description whose copyright has expired are available for online reading or downloading in various formats including HTML, simple text and Kindle for regular books and MP3, Ogg Vorbis and Apple iTunes for audiobooks. As a reviewer for a popular web design directory, I love to read the design books available on this site.
The number of books is increasing every day as volunteers add new books to the collection. The inventory is catalogued by title, author and also language, because many foreign language books are also available. All these books and audiobooks are available free and without obligation in accordance with their mission. A small donation, if given, would be appreciated and applied to future work. They also encourage new volunteers to help digitize books or record audiobooks. Project Gutenberg can be found at www.gutenberg.org. Simply click on the ‘catalog’ link and browse the areas that are of interest.
