Juggling the Balls of Personal Finance

When times are tough it becomes important for us all to look at way to economize our spending to save money. It seems we are too reactive when it comes to money, often relying on services like debt consolidation and such, when we could try to avoid debt in the first place!
The first thing I do is go through all my subscriptions for services like cable TV, the internet and cell phones, cancel the ones I no longer want and try and re-negotiate or switch service providers on the rest. Switching from branded goods in supermarkets to shop-brand goods is also an effective way to save money, as often the two products are almost identical. In some cases, spending money in the short term can actually save money if it is invested in money saving products such as energy-efficient appliances or home insulation. Downsizing your car to a more fuel-efficient model will save money on gas and tax. Cutting down on luxuries and treats such as chocolate, alcohol and tobacco can save you money and help you health - a win-win situation!
