I Insist on Safetywear For My Self-Build

It's just common sense, but I insist on safetywear for my self-build project. That means safety footwear, hard hats, gloves and also high visibility jackets for all. Sometimes lighting is a bit poor, so the visibility jackets are necessary. Also with people working above others, falling debris could be fatal without some head protection. The gloves and footwear protect those carrying heavy objects around. When you see people wearing all this gear, you can get the quick impression that it's all overkill, particularly on small projects, but it isn't. It's there for the unexpected moment, the split-second loss of footing, a lapse in concentration. I just feel a lot easier to know the workers are protected as much as they can be - of course, the rest comes down to training and people generally acting in a responsible way when on the job - that's something else - that comes down to picking a team you can trust.
